Fan Zone Paris 2024 Olympics
Paris, France
During the summer of 2024, the historic Château de Vincennes was transformed into a Fan Zone for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. This iconic site in eastern Paris became a place of excitement and cultural celebration, bringing the Olympic spirit to life for thousands of fans. Among the standout attractions was the Mobile WaveSurfer on Trailer, a surf simulator set up in the Royal Courtyard. The WaveSurfer allowed visitors, from novice to expert surfers, to enjoy a flowboarding experience in a controlled and safe environment. This unique installation brought the Olympic discipline of surfing directly to the heart of Paris, giving fans a taste of the action without ever leaving the city.

Mathieu, event manager at the Club 2024 in Vincennes, shares his thoughts on the success of the WaveSurfer at the Fan Zone and how it contributed to the overall visitor experience.
"The WaveSurfer was an exciting addition that we integrated into the Club 2024 because surfing is an official Olympic discipline. Our goal was to offer visitors the chance to experience as many Olympic sports as possible within this village."
He goes on to explain how visitors reacted to the impressive WaveSurfer setup:
"People are really amazed when they arrive and see the wave. They’re often surprised, especially with the beautiful backdrop of the keep behind it. It sparks a lot of interest, and even those without swimwear or towels feel compelled to participate. Rain or shine, people have been reserving slots to try out the WaveSurfer’s artificial wave."
Mathieu also highlights how crucial the WaveSurfer has been in attracting visitors:
"Without the WaveSurfer, we know the site wouldn’t have attracted as many visitors. Today is the third day of operations, and we’re realizing just how unique this attraction is in Europe, especially within the fan zones for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.”
The collaboration between the event team and WaveSurfer has been a key part of this success. Mathieu notes:
"The working relationship with Karel Dubois, the founder and creator of the WaveSurfer, has been very smooth and pleasant. The negotiations were straightforward, and the installation process was equally seamless. The schedule we put in place for setup and training was fully respected, and everything went according to plan."
Thanks to its mobile design, the WaveSurfer on Trailer brought the excitement of artificial wave surfing to the heart of the city. It allowed visitors to experience a taste of the Olympics in a unique and accessible way, enhancing the overall atmosphere of the Paris 2024 Fan Zone. This one-of-a-kind attraction became a highlight of the event, demonstrating the appeal and versatility of the WaveSurfer.
