OASIS WATERPARK
Billings, USA
At Oasis Waterpark in Billings, Montana, the recent addition of the WaveSurfer 2 Jets has made waves, literally and figuratively. Unveiled on July 7th, 2024, this cutting-edge surf wave machine is the first of its kind in North America, offering flowboarders an unforgettable surfing experience right in the heart of Montana.
Chuck recalls his initial meeting with Karel from WaveSurfer at IAAPA, where Karel's vision for a standout surf simulator machine immediately caught his attention.
"He had some ideas about how he was going to set himself apart from other installations. And he has met every objective: in being on site, not leaving once it’s all done, but actually sticking around to ensure the installation is running properly. In making sure that we are getting started on the right foot."
Chuck emphasizes the meticulous attention to detail during the installation process, highlighting the dedication to providing an optimal and safe environment for guests.
"[WaveSurfer] made sure that all the little parameters that can be changed were adjusted to make it the best experience for our riders.”
The response from visitors has been overwhelmingly positive.
"Our guest experience has been phenomenal. Every guest has come here and been super excited about the opportunity to ride the wave.”
He also touches on the Wavesurfer’s focus on safety, especially for younger surfers.
"Parents are encouraged by how our staff interacts with their kids. From the training to the way that the ride is built, where the padding is, and the way instructors engage with the riders offer a lot of security to both parents and riders who might be a little nervous."
Chuck is particularly impressed by the versatility and customization of the artificial surf machine.
"WaveSurfer sets itself apart from the competition by the amount of space that is offered on a double. We have a double, and the amount of surfable space is phenomenal. The motors and pumps are strong, and we can adjust the pump strength based on the rider's needs, making it a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. That’s a phenomenal attribute that really helps WaveSurfer set itself apart.”
Reflecting on the unique aspects of the WaveSurfer, Chuck adds:
"Our instructors can be on the wave with [the riders], all the way from the top to the bottom. They can be there giving instructions, giving them encouragement, giving the riders just that little bit of tip that’s going to help them be successful and safe. It makes a world of difference."
In closing, Chuck expresses his excitement about bringing such a unique attraction to Billings, Montana, a city far from any ocean but now a prime destination for aspiring surfers.
"We couldn’t be more thrilled that WaveSurfer is up and running. It’s the first in North America, and we’re really excited to be that place, Billings, Montana. Landlocked, but a great place to come learn how to surf."
For anyone considering adding a surf attraction to their facility, Chuck has one piece of advice:
"I highly recommend WaveSurfer to anybody who’s thinking about installing an attraction like this. It is the way to go. My experience with WaveSurfer has been amazing. From start to finish, they have really taken care of us."
The WaveSurfer surf attraction at Oasis Waterpark stands as a testament to its spacious and safe design, reliability, and ability to transform a landlocked place into a wave rider resort.
